Manuel Couto Alves

Chairman of the Board of Directors

Manuel Couto Alves is part of a third generation of a Portuguese business family involved in the Construction sector. From 1986 to 1998, Manuel Couto Alves was an equity partner in the ACA Group, overseeing global construction of infrastructures. In 1998, he founded the MCA Group, reflecting his inherent entrepreneurial spirit. Since then, he has spearheaded the company's internationalisation process, diversified its business activities and assembled a robust team of over 1,000 employees. Between 2021 and the beginning of 2023, he held the position of Non-executive Chairman of the Group, before resuming the role of Executive Chairman in 2023.

Luís Amado

Non-Executive Director

Luís Amado graduated in Economics at the Technical University of Lisbon, and began his career teaching secondary education in Madeira, Portugal. He was a member of the Madeira Regional Parliament and a member of the Portuguese Parliament. He was the Secretary of State for Internal Affairs and for Foreign Affairs and was Minister of National Defence, of State and of Foreign Affairs. He has taken non-executive roles in companies, namely as chairman of EDP. He was a professor at the University of Georgetown, in the United States of America and is a guest professor at the Higher Institute for Political and Social Sciences and at Nova University Lisbon. He was awarded with the Portuguese decoration Grã Cruz da Ordem de Cristo and with several other decorations conferred by foreign governments. MCA non-executive Board member since 2021.

Fernando Marques da Costa

Non-Executive Director

Fernando Marques das Costa graduated in History at the University of Porto. He was a deputy in the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic and advisor to the President of the Republic. He was executive director of the Cahora Bassa hydroelectric plant in Mozambique. He is a university professor, member of the Center for History at the University of Lisbon and the Research Center at the Lusófona University. MCA non-executive Board member since 2021.

António Oliveira

CCO & COO of Healthcare

António Oliveira has nearly two decades of experience in Audit and Risk, including 15 years at Deloitte, where he served as a manager and senior manager for 9 years. Registered as a Statutory Auditor since June 2014, he has been with the MCA Group since 2017, initially serving as Director of Governance, Audit & Risk. In March 2021, António Oliveira joined the Executive Board, currently holding the positions of Chief Corporate Officer and COO of the Healthcare business.

Carlo Amado

COO of Energies

Carlo Amado brings over 15 years of experience in Industrial and Energy sectors, having worked across 3 continents – South America, Africa and Europe, namely at Simoldes, Galp and Marfilpe. He joined MCA in 2016 as the Global Business Development Manager and assumed the role of Head of Renewables in 2021. Carlo Amado has been an Executive Board member of MCA since 2023, serving as the COO of the Energies business.

Elisabete Alves

COO of Infrastructures International

Elisabete Alves has been with MCA for over 20 years, primarily in Portugal. With experience in civil construction, public works and renewable energy, she was appointed as a Board Member of the Group in 2017 and has held the position of COO of the Infrastructures International business since 2021.

Hugo Borges

COO of Urban Development

Hugo Borges has over two decades of experience in the Financial Industry, primarily in Private & Investment Banking, namely at Barclays, Julius Baer, Standard Chartered, and Decisive. His expertise spans trade corridors across Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. In 2020, he was appointed as an advisor to the MCA Board, focusing on renewable energy, urban development and infrastructures. In September 2021, Hugo Borges assumed the role of COO of the Urban Development business.

Paulo Oliveira

CFO

Paulo Oliveira brings 25 years of experience in the financial sector, particularly in banking, asset management and insurance. He previously held the positions of CEO and CIO of BPI Asset Management, a division of the Caixabank Group, where he managed a portfolio of over €8 billion in AuM. Paulo Oliveira joined MCA in January 2022, assuming the role of the Group's CFO.

Vítor Hugo Lima

COO of Infrastructures Iberia

Vitor Hugo Lima has accumulated over 15 years of experience at MCA, in the infrastructure, construction and bioenergy sectors, primarily in Angola. Initially responsible for the Financial Department, he later served as President of the Board of Directors in Angola. Appointed as a Board Member of the Group in 2017, Vitor Hugo Lima has served as the COO of the Infrastructures Iberia business since 2021.
